Delicious gluten free breakfast meal at First Watch Roanoke, today. Kayleigh was an incredible server and seemed comfortable handling my gluten free request. The meal was flavorful, and tasted like fall, with a medley of English and sweet potatoes for the hash base with earthy tones by the cremini mushrooms, and a tiny punch of spice from the million dollar bacon (peppery). Totally worth it! This is not my first meal at First Watch, though it is my first review. From day one of eating at this establishment, I have been impressed with the staff’s knowledge regarding food allergies. Many servers seem to know about Celiac Disease and this is comforting to me. Though their kitchen is not strictly gluten free, I have been assured, multiple times, that the kitchen staff is well trained procedures designed to minimize gluten cross contact.
Today’s service was timely, with minimal wait. We arrived mid morning, and the early breakfast crowd must had already dispersed. There were plenty of open tables and the atmosphere was not very loud. There was minor chatter from other tables, pleasant overhead pop type indie music and of course, the usual cacophony of a bustling kitchen. Today, I was accompanied by my mom, who has limited mobility, and the staff was easily able to accommodate her wheelchair, so handicap accessibility was not an issue. There were ample spots in the parking lot and there was ramp access to the sidewalk.
Today’s meal was but one of many gluten free breakfast options. The restaurant offers gluten free bread for toast, and numerous entrees that are naturally gluten free, such as a variety of omelets and other concocted bowls that are sure to appeal to many tastes.
So, if you have Celiac Disease and you miss eating out, take a chance on First Watch, Roanoke. The gluten free choices are varied and the servers are really good. I highly recommend!
